About this site
Trade Cert Hub is a free reference for state-by-state trade licensing requirements across 4 trades and 50 states. We document what your state actually requires — hours, fees, bonds, exam providers — and link to the official source on every page.
How we source data
Every license profile is compiled from the official state licensing board for that trade, and each page links to that source and shows the date the figures were compiled. We are working through source-verifying each figure board-by-board; until a page is individually confirmed, treat the linked board as the authoritative source. Full details are in our editorial & data policy.
If a number looks off, the source link on the page will get you to the current rule — and we'd appreciate a note so we can fix it for the next visitor.
Maintained by The Trade Cert Hub editorial team. We're a small, independent team — not a government agency or licensing board.
What you can do here
- Look up any state's requirements for electricians, plumbers, HVAC contractors, and general contractors.
- Use free calculators and tools — CE renewal, bond cost, reciprocity, and provider comparison.
- Read in-depth guides on code changes, license types, and costs.
Editorial policy
We don't take payment to list one CE provider over another. Provider tables only include providers offering courses for that trade and state. We flag one editor's pick — the provider with the largest course catalog for your state — and list the rest alphabetically; affiliate status never changes which providers appear or their order. Any "View courses" button takes you to the provider's site through a tracked affiliate link. See our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure.
Not legal advice
This site is informational only. Licensing rules change. For any high-stakes decision — opening a business, applying for a license, contesting a denial — verify against the official state board and consult an attorney or licensed professional. See our terms of use.
